Let's be Clear About One Thing

bullshit (ˈbo͝olˌSHit) · Noun: Stupid or untrue talk or writing; nonsense; Shenoa is leaving, so the rest of us decided to give up on Room to Think.

Room to Think may be closing it's doors, but we're sure as hell not giving up on you. We're not giving up on building community, sharing knowledge, having events, and meeting up to work together and catch up. There are too many high-fives yet to be exchanged.

Guys. This is isn't a bad thing. It's an opportunity. To think that we've given up on you is sucker punch to the kidneys. Nothing is further from the truth.

The money side of Room to Think hasn't been in great shape for a long time now. The fight to keep the space has been going on for a while now, and we have had more than one of you save us on several occasions (thank you!). We even had multiple offers that would have taken care of the financial shortfall. The on-pouring of donations and time put into this dream has been amazing. To see us make it a year has rocked my socks. Seriously, you are all my heroes. But this dream isn't ending.

It's never been about the space. These walls I write to you from now do not define Room to Think. You do. Coworking is an ideal—not a space. It's the idea that we can work alongside each other collaboratively instead of against one another. All of you magnificent bastards have shown me how great this community can be. Believe me when I tell you everything that matters about Room to Think is going to survive. And so we close the door on this particular slice of office space. Big deal. We have each other (shut up, I'm not trying to be sappy. It's true).

I am ecstatic, and damned proud of everyone around me. A year ago we were 5 weirdos meeting in a library. Now look at us? At least 30 strong, and inspiring change, giving back, sharing knowledge. Room to Think has kicked a lot of ass, and delivered so many names to its roster.

Now is the time for all of us to reinvent what coworking means for the Tri-Cities. Let's try something new. Let's show this community what we can achieve by putting our crazy ideas to the test, unafraid to fall on our faces (we pick each other up when that happens).

Room to Think is not giving up on you. We're giving you the chance to the do the next awesome thing. And you SHOULD DO IT because we believe in you. Be awesome. We've got your back like a double rainbow, man. All the way.
